Palakkad
Palakkad is famous for pala trees. It is named after these trees. Nowadays these trees were replaced by paddy cultivation.
Some of the Tourist spots in Palakkad are:
1. Vishwanatha Temple: This is a 703 year old temple. It is famous for its chariot festival which will take place every year.
2. Kollengode: Kollengode is a famous Vishnu temple which is 20 kilometers away from Palakkad. This place is also famous for its paddy cultivation.
3. Tippu’s Fort: Tippu’s Fort is located in the center of palakkad city. This was built in 1766 by hyder Ali. But later this was occupied by the British from Hyder Ali’s successors.
4. Malampuzha Gardens: Malampuzha Gardens is a popular historic spot where it is constructed near the malampuzha dam. This is a boating spot for the tourists.
5. Silent Valley National Park: Silent Valley National Park is 100square kilometers in its area. It is built in palakkad city but it is more than 90kilometers away from Kochi.
Even though palakkad doesn’t have airport there is a nearby airport(coimbatore airport) which is 52kilometer from palakkad. More than 140,000 people are living in palakkad and the climatic conditions in palakkad during summer are 28′ Celsius and during winter it is around 18′ Celsius.
